Migration

The first Citizens’ Council in Kifissia was organized through the initiative of the municipality of Kifissia and FEMEDUBEART. Twenty-one senior citizens addressed and discussed the topic of migration. As part of this discussion, the questionnaire for the citizen survey proposed by the consortium was used. This work of the Citizens’ Council was implemented between February and April 2025.

A lively discussion took place, as the topic of migration is a challenging situation for the Greek population. The majority of the Greek population is dissatisfied with Greek migration and refugee policy.

A total of 70 citizen surveys were conducted, discussed, and evaluated. It became clear that:
– Migration is seen as a risk for crime and a burden. Few see it as an opportunity.
– The way politicians are handling the issue has been criticized.
– There is a lack of information and a lack of services (language courses, etc.).

The results were summarized in a public-private partnership (PPP) and presented, discussed, and shared at the International Meeting in Izola on May 22, 2025. The desired measures from the citizen surveys were incorporated:
– Promoting integration
– Improving government policies
– Promoting public dialogue
